On basement slab can tile be applied directly to cement with thinset mortar? Or should there be a bonding agent applied with roller before thinset is laid down? This is for ceramic tile. Thank you. |

Thinset will work over clean concrete, roughing up the face of the concrete will give it a better bite. |

As long as there are no cracks, paint or sealers on the slab.  |

Cleaning it well with a de-greaser should be all it would take. As long as it's clean and somewhat porous, it will hold. |
