Hi all,

Is there anyone in the central florida area that can help me with the cost of marble 12 x 12 tiles on walls in a bathrrom?

We have an installation company in Osceola County, but it has been 8 years since we installed marble on walls.

Wondering what the going rate is now a days.

Thanks

Linda

Probably about the same it cost 8 years ago due to the economy. How much were you charging then?

The hell ya say!

Marble tile cost is up twenty percent in the past eight years.

Grout cost is up twenty-five percent in the last eight years.

This set is up thirty-five percent in the past eight years.

Labor in Florida has been static for the last thirteen years. Labor burden has also been basically flat for that length of time. Workers comp hasn't changed. Insurance is up thirty-five percent across the board.

Linda why don't you just call a local installer and ask them. Dial 1-800-WET-BACK, ask for Juan.grin

Due to your locatiion the price today is about one third of the price 8 years ago. After thirty years in the tile business and not being able to increase my prices I F#$%^&* quit and am looking for work in other lines of employment. Bagging groceries would be more prosperous.

Prices here in Minnesota wouldnt do you much good where you are where competition has driven prices into the sub basement. OR, Maybe it isnt competition, Perhpas its a double whammy, people simply willing to work for nothing and homowners and general contractors willing to accept substandard work.

While I am sure there is some GOOD work in florida, I have yet to see any in my few sojurns down there. Keep in mind my experience is MOSTLY seeing commercial installs in motels restaurants, gas stations etc. None of these installs would have gotten me paid up here which leads me to believe what is Acceptable there makes it HARD for a GOOD installer to charge what is actually needed to do GOOD work!

Up here I set marble & Granite for 10-15. 00 a s/f depending on the project

I doubt you would get any job in florida even at 60% of that rate since I hear tile is commonly installed for around (1.60)-2. 00 a s/f (I wouldnt start my truck for wages like that. I would make MORE on Welfare!)

It is sad to see an area of the United States where a tradesman has the same or perhaps even LESS respect than a Janitor or hamburger flipper sad
