I am pricing travertine to put in my shower. The water here has a lot of lime in it and I need a sealer helps repel the lime. Does that exist?

Hi,

I am an installer, and I also worked for a company in Orlando that now posesses a machine that bakes a sealer into most natural stones up to a 24 x 24 size.

It is the best thing I have seen where a permanent, never, ever having to reseal, again, sealer is concerned. It is a product that is virtually stain proof. In most cases it allows up to 24 hours to clean a spill off of it. You cannot use any abrasives to clean.
If interrested, and you live in Florida, I will get the information for the company to you.
The cost is very reasonable, to NEVER, EVEr have to reseal again.

Natural stone, esp. Travertine can be a nightmare in the typical shower installation, it does look nice when first installed though. grin

I recommend a nice ceramic that mimics travertine and make sure the licensed tile setter you hire really knows how a shower is supposed to be built. Most showers are not built correctly, even when the plumber and tile guy tell you they've been in the business for a long time. Run their method at us so you won't spend 3-5K on a shower that will look like bad in a few years.

Jangel,

I live in Colorado but would love to know the name of the equipment that you are referring to that seals tile. I would love to find something in my area. Thanks

Hi Dana,

I am afraid that at this stage there are only two companies that do it. One is a major manufacturer
That seals there own manufactured goods only, and there is D & B Tile in Florida.
I can tell you that if you really want it, it can be shipped from you to them and back after the process is performed. This of course can be very costly, but it depends on the quantity involved.
Their websire is [dbtile.com]. The location where the equipment is located is the Sunrise Florida location.

I hope this helps.
