I have about 4" of tile on each side of my tub that goes all the way to the floor. I have removed all the old linoleum and am about to lay ceramic tile. My question is does the tile on the wall need to be cut to allow the floor tile to go underneeth or can I just but it up and grout around it. My concern is that I have read that the floor needs to be able to expand.

Just butt it up to it, then caulk.

I want to avoid caulk because of the color match problem. I can get an acrylic caulk that will come close but then I have the maintenance problems that you have with acrylic caulk. Will I have a problem if I just put grout in there? I am using an epoxy grout (Spectra-Loc Pro).

I'm guessing by the replys I have here that I have two options.
1. Cut the wall tile and slide the floor tile underneath and then grout.
Or
2. But the floor tile up to the wall tile and caulk. Is that correct?

David, either way you are going to have to caulk the joint. Take the path of least resistence.
