I installed a 2 X 6 foot wall under the front edge of a jacuzzi tub. I have made it as immoveable as possible, and covered it with 1/4" cement board. I am setting 2X4" mosaic porcelain mounted on a plastic mesh backing (about 1X2 feet in size). My question is what kind of adhesive and what kind/size trowel?

Thanks,

Funny thing---your first question should have been: "How am I doing so far"?

And the answer would have been: "Not very good".

I have made it as immoveable as possible,

Nahh! I don't think so.

Cement board that is ONLY 1/4" thick is intended for floors atop a strong subfloor and maybe cladding walls over a strong substrate but never is it to be used alone on the studs of a wall. The vibration from the Jacuzzi will in time wreck it for you I'm sure. Cement board 1/2" thick is for walls.grin

I would double up with another layer of 1/4 inch thinsetting it to the first one. Use a 1/4 by 1/4 notch trowel and a quality latex modified thinset. Careful to key in your thinset b4 using the notched side and keep your joints clean saves alot of time.
