schlutter strip color problems

My builder says that repeatedly walking over the schuletter strips that transition between tile and wood would wear the finish off. Can anyone tell me if this is true.

In a residential application, very unlikely. In a commercial, depends on what colour was used.

You didn't tell us which material you have, how old and if you're having a problem.

Also, why is there a Schluter metal edging used between tile and wood flooring? If there is, which one, and how is the expansion space done? Normally a wood threshold that covers both floors is used so that there will be a gap for when the wood expands.
