I am moving in to our new house and I am installing ceramic tile. Tile in one continuous flow will travel from the foyer to a gallery area and into a kitchen then down a hallway and into a bath. Where do I start? The tile is 16" and it is going past a family room, office and has many twists and turns. Should I start in the center of the largest area, the kitchen or down one of the halls of foyer? Will I have to lay one strip down all area's to see where things will fall? Help professionals!

I would open up a bunch of those boxes and start dry laying them on the floor, pulling measurements, and look at how thing are going to fall into place.

16's cover a lot of surface so I would make sure the floor is dead level and plane. Also I would do the job in sections. You'll be happier with the results.

The main hall from the front door to the kitchen is primarily a major focus point so I would try and lay out full tiles there, no less than 1/2 tiles if you can get away with it. This sometimes regulates where your cuts will fall in the kitchen too so it's a matter of preference. Let us know what you have for a subfloorgrin
