It's looks good, but take more pictures. Is there something you are not happy with and how much is a lot?

Mia please keep your posts all in one thread rather than starting a new thread each time you make a post.

Your installation looks really good from here.grin

Hope all the prep work was done correctly, like waterproofing that bench etc., etc.

It's all in the prep work, tiling it to look good is only a part of it.

Looks decent. RD is right though, no matter how good it looks, if it won't last it does not mean anything. That's why tile is expensive, it is intended to last fifty plus years if installed and maintained correctly.

He used cement the liner for a pan then paper and wire. Then he put cement on all the walls even in the tub. This took 7 days is that along time? Because another tile man said it would take him 4 days. Oh and the seat was made out of block is that the wright way?

C'mon Mia,

You aren't going to dis-credit this installer by asking questions on an Internet forum if that is what you are trying to do. All of this should have been researched beforehand if you were so concerned.

From the photos - the installation looks great and from your description of what was done everything was done correctly and maybe even better than most.

So what's your real reason for being here? Have you paid the installer in full?

If it wasn't a proper installation what could you do about it now?

Did you ask for references and verify his references before the job was begun?grin

Really you can't judge a book by it's cover- this looks nice- but. Only time will tell, was a proper membrane/waterproofing procedure followed? Was a vapour barrier installed, was mold and mildew resistant product used, were the wall/wall joints/ wall/floor joints properly done? Were the joists and subfloor checked/replaced and reinforced if needed? Did the installer use premium products and follow all the manufacturers requirements? Also yes this job could have been done "faster" using something like a schluter systems products - kerdi, schlutershower system, dilex- ehk, etc. I wish you luck with your install- but I think it was mentioned - research and knowledge comes prior to execution.

I doubt very much all of that could be done in four work days, that's a lot of crap.

7 days is about right for your particular shower, maybe even another day or 2. I would have been concerned with the installer that said he could do it in 4. I would rather have someone take an extra day or 2 to make it right than to have someone fly through the job and have problems shortly afterwards. Sounds like your money was well spent and you picked the better installer.

My tile man said if I have any problems he will fix for free but he doesnt think I will have any problems. I guess I did get a pro and should of just trusted him from the start. Just saw a friends shower and wasn't so nice.

Just curious, but how much did you end up paying the tile guy. If you don't want to say, that's fine, I'm just curious. Did he do all the prep including the seat?

$8,500 and he did everything but the plumbing and paint. Do most tile men tuck the carpet when they do a floor?

I should clarify- when I meant "faster" I meant that there are quicker ways to build shower pans with prefab kits rather than building a mortar bed pan, but either will be just fine if done properly. But the bottom line is you can't rush quality work and cutting corners is never an option.

As long as you're happy and there is no problems the best thing you can do is recommend him to friends and family. Who knows, maybe if there is another tile job down the road, the installer will give you a discount for helping him keep busy. I personally install a marble saddle unless the customer request to have the carpet tucked.

Bill's only been fishing one time this year. I've even missed the last three tournaments, between work, and working on the house. It sucks to be me! sad

Even yesterday-- beautiful day for just about ANYTHING! And where am I? 15 feet up on a ladder, SCRAPING PAINT! This is just wrong. grin
