I was about to buy modified thinset for the tile in my shower but the sales associate at Home Depot recommended the fortified thinset instead. What is the difference and why would you choose one over the other? I'm setting ceramic tile. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

OK let's understand a few things first.

Most employees of Home Depot have no business working in the departments they occupy there.

Most employees of Home Depot have no aspirations beyond pay day.

Most employees of Home Depot have no training with the products they sell.

Most employees of Home Depot have no experience in any of the building trades.

Most employees of Home Depot have no skills beyond rolling a doobie and downloading ring tones.

Most employees of Home Depot wear an orange apron.

Most employees of Home Depot have no idea why they wear an orange apron.

Most employees of Home Depot haven't noticed that the name Janice has been crudely written on the top of the apron they are wearing with a magic marker when in fact their name is Fred.

Most employees of Home Depot can't find the store restroom two days in a row.

Most employees of Home Depot have no idea that modified thinset and fortified thinset ARE THE SAME THING for God's sake.

David when you go to Home Depot NEVER ask those people any questions about anything.

I take offense. I work at home depot and know a boat load about flooring. The individual you asked was just an idiot. As are many employees at THD.

Patrick,

I agree, about one-in-a-million.

In all the years, I have only run into AND heard of two (2) sales people that knew which round they were in, so to speak, that work in the "tile department" at those type of store.

One was at a HD about 15 miles from me. (someone told me about this guy).

The other was an un employed "tile setter" who worked at the blowes. Ah ah-----Lowes near me. He was there one day, two weeks later, gone.

I don't even ask which aisle anymore.

Patrick, if you are an expert, you may tell everyone which store.

Why do you "take offense"?

I qualified my statements by saying "most employees".

You have admitted I am right, so why be offended? Tell us where you are, the DIY's in that area need to know how to find you.grin
