My front entrance needs a new floor. It seems to be a mud subfloor as I break the old tile part of the under layment gets broken or removed. So now I have floor that have a crumbled sub floor. What process should I use to install new cermaic tile?

You could build it back with plywood and cement board or membrane or redo the mudbed. How thick is the mud bed?

The mud bed seems to be 2 to 3 inches thick.
