There is a lot of information on this site. So much so that it gets confusing. I have sheet flooring (vinal or linoleum) glued to a concrete slab. The house is built in 1976 - California. I tried to scrape up some of the flooring when I put in new kitchen cabinets but it is quite permenantly glued down. So now I have about 3 inches of exposed slab between the old flooring and the new cabinets. Removing the remaining 157 sqft of existing flooring seems impossible - and part of the cabinets did get installed over the existing flooring. I want to put down some tile. I got an estimate from someone who would put the tile down over the existing flooring. But in looking to perhaps do the job myself, and seeing all of the postings here, I am a bit confused as to what I need to do. Bottom line: Can I install over the existing flooring, using leveling mud to fill in the areas that I tried to strip. If so, what would be the procedure and what would I need to purchase. Thanks a million for any help you can provide. |
