Ceramic for outside application (Steps)

Can I install ceramic steps outdoors.

Also, I have granite tiles I would like to install in my kitchen. I was told to install them on top of the ceramic tiles that are down to avoid having to move cabinets and appliances.

I really would like to do these project myself. I'm pretty handy.

I wouldn't.

What type of floor is under the tile that is there?, stone subfloors need to meet certain specs to survive.grin
