We mistakenly let Polyblend Grout and Adhesive dry on bathroom wall tiles and can't get it off no matter what we use or how hard we try. Please help us. Thanks.

My friend used 2 or 3 quarts of Polyblend Grout and Adhesive (I think) mixed half and half with another color of premixed Polyblend Grout. I wanted him to used the regular unmixed grout (I just got out of the hospital and couldn't do the work, and he was doing me a "favor"), so I let him do things "his way."

I'm confused as to what products he actually used, this makes no sense, you have a photo of this mess?

That IS the product:Polyblend Grout and Adhesive. It is a premix for laying tile and my buddy used it for regrouting wall tile, left it on the wall too long and it hardened and now, no matter what we do, there is a residue that we can't seem to get off. We've washed it with water & sponges, burlap, etc maybe 10-12 times, tried muriatic acid, and still there is residue like glue, like adhesive!

Maybe it's time to contact Custom? 1-800-282-8786? Probably would take a caulk remover to soften it up. It's not portland based so I wouldn't expect acid to do anything. It's what, colored adhesive caulk mixed with another bucket of a colored caulk like product, right?

If the tile is smooth, you'd be able to shave it to just a film on the tile using a razor scraper. After that, there should be a film just thin enough that whatever Custom suggests should work fairly well. There was a thread on trafficmaster grout where excess cr@p (I won't call it grout) left on tile was removed with a cleaner called "greased lightening" mixed with "I can't remember" so try the search feature above.

I hope you've recovered fully and good luck. grin
