I am in the middle of tiling my kitchen. It is a large area and was not able to get it all done in one night. My question is how should I begin tiling again? There is some mortar that is dried that is where tiles will be layed next to the ones I got done the other night. I am thinking now that I probably should have cleaned the mortar off the backerboard back to the edge of the tile, but I didn't. I am sure that I will have to remove the dried mortar to get a level surface, does anybody have any advice on how or tips?

Thanks

Good thinking that you should have cleaned the mortar off before it dried. How to remove it? I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Gee, tuff break!

I was standing in a flooring store one day when I overheard the receptionist say, "Hold on I have an installer standing right here and he can answer your question for you".

She handed me the phone and the lady asked me when was the proper time to begin cleaning her newly installed grout she had done herself. She was having some difficulty getting the grout to come off the tiles.

I asked her when she installed the grout and she told me it was about three weeks ago. She just hadn't had time to clean it up after she installed it and it was late and she was tired that night.

I'm sorry but I have little (to no) sympathy for people that do things like that.sad

It wasn't grout it was mortar and I didn't just not do it because I was tired, I forgot. I cleaned it all up yesterday.
