Making cuts in porcelain dish for tile

I am interested in cutting a square porcelain plate/dish into a standard tile size in order to make tiles for a kitchen backsplash. The design idea is to match the serving dishes. Any hints on how to do this. Has anyone actually tried it successfully?

Any porcelain plate/dish can easily be cut with a wet-saw for cutting tile.
