I installed my backer smooth side up, I dont want to remove it and start over. Can this project be salvaged? I will be installing 6" tile over top. Thanks for any help.

The last durarock sheet had a label that said install rough side up for thinset, smooth side up for mastic. Will either work? Or what is the drawbacks of using one over the other when applying to the smooth side of the durarock? Thanks again.

If using Cemntboard, I assume it's on a floor or in a wet area on a wall, therefore Mastic shouldn't be used, the rough side gives it more bite for the thinset, but the smooth side will work as well.grin

Now start tiling.grin

It's not done "wrong". Which side you use is optional and it really doesn't matter in a case like this.grin
