I usually use a brand that I can get local from the tile shop called "sure seal"! Works great and you don't need to wait several days before applying it. As soon as you finished grouting you spray it on and walk away!

I was just lookin to see if I could find some info on that spray sealer. Is this just the same as the other grout sealers out there? I've just finished grouting and I was waiting to put the aquamix sealer I got when I thought my back hurts and I am tired of being on my hands and knees, spray sealer might be a good idea.

My question would be if the overspray dries white on the face of the tile. If so, it's a bear to get off.

I have seen a spray on grout sealer at Home Depot called "Tile Perfect Stand & Spray Grout Sealer". Does anyone have any info on it. I can't find it on the internet so far.

I have used the "Tile Perfect Stand and Spray Grout Sealer" at my home and found it quick and easy to use. It left no visible overspray and with a 15 year guaranteed life expectancy I'm pleased with it so far. I bought mine at Home Depot for around $10.00. In one spot I had a small puddle of it from runoff on an uneven floor but I took up the excess with a paper towel.

I would stay away from the stand n seal grout sealer. My boyfriend used it and the first day came down with flu like symtoms. We thought nothing of it, and when he felt better he finished the bathroom, and 20 minutes after using the product came down with flu like symtoms again. Except this time he couldnt breath, ached all over so bad he couldnt walk, felt pain in his kidneys and the symtoms are still persisting, 3 days later, No sufficient warning as needing to wear a mask, room was well ventillated, and are contacting the company for further explaination!

If anyone else knows of health problems from using Tile Perfect Stand 'n Seal grout sealer, please let me know! I am aware of another company that had the same issues and is under court order NOT to sell their product anymore. Could they be making this product for Tile Perfect? I highly recommend the Sure Seal product mentioned in Reply #1. Visit [www.suresealusa.com] for more info on where to buy it. They guarantee theirs for 22 years and the coverage is more than double that of Tile Perfect!

My husband and I used (4.5) cans of the Tile Perfect Stand n' Spray on the recommendation of the Home Depot sales associate. We didn't feel any symptoms while spraying, but immediately after, my husband felt a tightening in his chest, difficulty breathing and especially if he took a deep breath, he would start coughing. Since he did the spraying, he felt the effects first. He said that his knees felt weak and he felt nauseated. I started feeling bad maybe an hour after, but my symptoms were not as severe. Still, I felt bad enough to want to go to my local quick care. Since they weren't open that late at night, I called the 24-Hour Emergency Phone at 800-424-9300 and all they said was to go to the emergency room. They weren't helpful at all because I asked what I should be telling the doctor as far as the chemical that may have caused these reactions and they said to bring in the can. We waited until the next day and it seems that the symptoms diminished. We did not stay in the house that was sprayed. I think that played a big part in our recovery. If we had to stay in the house that was sprayed, we would most likely be in the same boat as Bonnie's boyfriend. Even two days later, we don't feel 100% after using this stuff. I agree that there is not enough warning to the user. It says to "avoid breathing vapors," but unless you hold your breath or are wearing a gas mask, I don't see how you can avoid that. It's also nice to know that this stuff is "harmful or fatal if swallowed," but doesn't point out that it is also harmful if inhaled. I'm not going to drink it or huff it, but I do have to breathe. It's supposed to "evaporate harmlessly" but apparently not to humans. I guess it works as indicated, but I don't recommend it because of health concerns.

I heard about this thread through one of my guys. I have a small tile contractor company of 6 guys and we have been using the Stand & Seal product exclusively for about the last 6-8 months. I am surprised to hear about the health concerns. We've probably used over 200 cans of this stuff and nobody has ever had any problems. I can say that my guys love using it. It has saved us tons of time and the protection has been better than anything else we've used--not to mention the fact that you're off your knees doing the job. I just make sure the room I'm working in is well ventilated--open doors and windows, etc. Avoid small, tightly closed off rooms. It's kind of a common sense thing, but we've used it professionally for all of our seal jobs and had no problems.

I used the spray sealer to do my bathroom this fall. I was worried about breathing in the vapors because it was a small room with only one small window. I brought in two box fans to help with ventilation and took a few breaks to get fresh air outside. I haven't had to reseal the floor since I sprayed it. Water actually beads up on the grout surface.

Last Saturday I used 1 can of Tile Perfect Stand n' Spray in a small bathroom with the overhead vent fan on & the door open for air, (which did not help). Needless to say I just got released from the hospital due to breathing problems, chest pains, etc. I'm still a little lightheaded 5 days later. The warnings on the label suck! The stuff actually smelled pretty good, scary huh. I wish I found this site before I sprayed. Please stay away from this product, I'm SURE this will be taken off the market.

Ok, so Tile Perfect jumped all over this board during some not so far back conversations about Trafficmaster Stain Proof grout which they also make for Home Depot. This included a company rep as well as one of it's highest executive officers. So, where are they now? grin Perhaps their silence on this one should scream to all. ;) Just don't use it.

This product did work very well. However at the expense of me being Hospitalized within 1 hour of use. Yes - More than "sufficient" ventilation was used.
The Acute damage to my lungs had me on oxygen respiration for 4 days.
The side effects from this product are NO JOKE. They are DEADLY.
We will not know for weeks just how extensive the long term damage is to my lungs - not if - how much damage.
My family was traumatized with the thought of losing me to this chemical poisoning.
Needless to say - Home Depot has been contacted.
Now - this Manufacturer must be held accountable and STOP risking the lives of it's consumers.

Jay I'm sorry to hear of your unfortunate reaction to this product, I regret this came from a product of our industry. I thank you for posting here about your experience and wish you the best of luck with this health issue.

Bljack is correct in his REPLY 13, I wonder what these guys have to say about this issue.grin

Carter, why not include a BUYER BEWARE page here somewhere. This area (BUYER BEWARE) could be used to reference threads such as this. Maybe you should call your lawyer first.grin
